The laboratory of science, technology and society (CTS in Spanish) of FLACSO Ecuador is a space for co-creation of public policy and academic research. The laboratory is committed to generating knowledge that is relevant for decision-making and for the formulation of public policies.
We are dedicated to studying the role of science and technology in contemporary societies to track how they shape our lives and how they open different paths to the future in order to co-design policies that respond to needs located in the territory.
Of strong interdisciplinary vocation, our proposal is nourished by the social studies of science and technology and public policy analysis. Born from this crossroad are the topics that interest us and that share a local orientation with an international projection.

Topics

Social innovation; big data; artificial intelligence; cities laboratory; and science, technology and innovation policies.

Anderson Castro:

We are a team of academics who for more than ten years have been developing Science, Technology and Society studies in Ecuador. Since then we have trained students and decision makers in our academic programs and research projects. We are part of the public action, networks, and social policy research group of the Department of Public Affairs.

Our laboratory is an open space to students, professors, academics, businessmen, policy makers, communicators, civil society associations, and public and private institutions. Those interested can participate in our agenda of colloquia, conferences, workshops, and continuing education courses.

Nuestra historia
